On September 7, 2024, the Rotary Club of Waling-Waling Davao hosted a club seminar at the Acacia Hotel. It brought together Rotary clubs and Rotaractors from across the region, including the Rotary Club of Koronadal and a Rotaractor from the Rotaract Club of Koronadal.
The speakers stressed the impact of Rotary. Rtn. Darwin John shared the story of his late father, who at four years old went from riches to rags because of family disputes. Through scholarship and education, his father was able to rebuild his life. Rtn. Darwin said education is both an equalizer and a multiplier, and a reminder of the responsibility to uplift the underprivileged.
He also said, “The Magic of Rotary is all about finding ways to give, not just take.” He pointed to global grants as tools that let clubs fund projects that improve lives through their time and talents.
The seminar highlighted support for education and community projects as central to Rotary's mission. The club said that by sharing time, talent and funds, clubs can bring real change in their communities.
