RoCK Cares Project Week 1 gives Lamkot Elementary School pupils 12 weeks of meals
The Rotary Club of Koronadal agreed to provide 12 weeks of nutritious meals to pupils of Lamkot Elementary School, with parents and teachers helping to implement it.
The club learned that some pupils of Lamkot Elementary School went to school with only rice as baon (packed lunch), or with none at all. Some pupils also skipped school for this reason.
Through the initiative of the Rotary Club of Koronadal, parents and teachers provided a viand for the pupils' lunch. The post said Christmas came early for the pupils.
Supporting basic education is one of Rotary International's areas of focus. The RoCKers agreed unanimously to provide not 12 days but 12 weeks of nutritious meals to the school.
The club said it is proud of the parents' participation and eagerness in carrying out the project, and that this will not be the only gift it gives.
